Sabbatical Ski Adventure

After a delicious dinner at Teds downtown Bozeman, nightcap and bed before 10 a.m., the night was filled with wake up for both of us.  Mostly aches, headache, stuffy nose and just anxious about the day ahead. Trip Record 15 degree start with blowing snow.  70 hours of drive time and over 3k miles with 1,200 to get home.  We quickly packed and hit the road by 5:30 a.m. We grabbed coffee at Starbucks in Bozeman and got on 90 east to Billings.  Drake took first shift and had to deal with whiteout conditions especially with truck blow back.  Drifting in left lane just complicates the drive. At 6:45 a.m. the sunrise started to show itself. Another day on the trip with everyone headed in different directions.  Grandpa made Sausage and Pancakes for everyone, then packed up Garrett and Katelyn for the trek to the airport.  The Truro van has 125k miles, but drives fine.  The roads were packed and rain coming down made it a little tough.  A little over a half hour and dropped them off at 8:15 a.m. The drive back pretty much the same, but knowing that 1" of rain is 8-10" snow.  Drake who went to Solitude for a morning ski called and Tahoe in the snow bank (later on the lift met the people in the Tahoe), so the top of the mountain was closed due to too much snow.  Avalanche dangers all over the place with so much snow.  Logan and David headed back to Alta and Logan sent a snowy picture. Breakfast Casserole 5:45 a.m. wake up for Jeff and nobody else until 6:15 a.m.  Oven prewarmed to 350 degrees and the egg casserole in the oven.  Being Jeff's birthday everyone as they rose wished him a Happy Birthday. The day started so well and no rain with gorgeous scenery in route.  Got to parking lot pretty close to Brighton Center and lifts.  Right in front of Majestic lift.  Drake stayed home with Sarah and Parker for a family day.  They went to lunch and the Aquarium not far from our VRBO. They ended up at the same Wood Fired restaurant we ate at the very first day .
