Breakfast Casserole

5:45 a.m. wake up for Jeff and nobody else until 6:15 a.m.  Oven prewarmed to 350 degrees and the egg casserole in the oven.  Being Jeff's birthday everyone as they rose wished him a Happy Birthday.

The day started so well and no rain with gorgeous scenery in route.  Got to parking lot pretty close to Brighton Center and lifts.  Right in front of Majestic lift.  Drake stayed home with Sarah and Parker for a family day.  They went to lunch and the Aquarium not far from our VRBO.




They ended up at the same Wood Fired restaurant we ate at the very first day .

Started gearing up and dumb dumb grandpa left his ski coat.  Janie and Logan went ahead to catch up with David's crew.  Grandpa let everyone know the situation and Drake called to see if he can drive it up with Parker.  Thank goodness as able to keep parking spot and just wait a little over an hour.  Drake Parker to the rescue; back on the slopes to meet up with the crew by 10:15 a.m.  Good thing as the snow really started to pick up and the sun we had on the drive up totally gone making it feel colder.  While waiting Jeff was able to scope out the Center and purchase a sticker.

We learned during the day that the left side of the Mountain was closed the day before, so we had a lot of fresh snow.  Makes some parts of the run harder, but for the most part a lot of fun.  We all got comfortable with skiing in the trees as the day went on.  First time we had snow boarders as not allowed at Deer Valley or Alta.  No problem with snow boarders in concept, but some really immature jerks at times.

Garrett really improved day after day and was in full Blue Run mode keeping up.  He also got another Black run at the end of the day.  Some pictures from the day with the end of the day shots from Molly's.

The post skiing gathering at Molly's had its adventures when it came to beer glasses.  Poor Jeff and Garrett took some point deductions.  David almost made the same mistake, but saved the day.  Together with forgetting coat put Jeff in the hole further than David.

When departing the parking lot we didn't make it far as a few cars were piled up.  Not sure if bald tires, or going to fast or both.  Added 20 minutes to the drive home that was snowy and then rainy.

Pretty tired bunch upon arrival back to the VRBO.  Everyone hit the hot tub and showers and Drake made an appetizer.  Jeff had his Lake Lotawana Executive Board meeting call and quick shower before dinner.  Drake and Janie made a Birthday dinner (filets, mashed potatoes, asparagus and bread) with Oreo Cookie Ice Cream cake for desert.

After dinner and gifts everyone started to crash for the night as 10 p.m. started to approach.  Another great day for the family and our ski adventures.

Utah - Deer Valley

First up in the am (5:45 a.m.) and took this pic from family room at VRBO.  We have a complete view of the valley. A little later Logan captured more of the early sunrise effect. The plans are to ski Deer Valley with the entire crew today.  Unfortunately Sarah being pregnant and Parker not yet old enough for the mountains is not skiing this trip. Everyone was up and ready to go pretty much on time.  The Indy Clan headed out first (before 7:00 a.m.) as they needed to get Christa's ski rentals.  The KC crew left about 7:15 to head up the mountain.  We stayed in touch to try and coordinate parking, but ended up in two different spots.  David parked below the central lodge entrance and Jeff parked at the Gondola Parking.  Both worked out great being free and relatively easy.  The Indy crew had a bit of a hike and the KC clan had a long line for the gondola. Jackson Hole Day 1 - Super Bowl

-3 degrees start in Jackson, WY. Brought in gear this morning and warmed up while waking.  Whew, forgot to bring in our gear overnight.  Amazing how long boots stay cold when frozen. Drive up to Jackson Hole Resort was 25 mins and parked up close for $35.  Free parking off mountain just seemed to be a little more than difficult.  Getting there early we hung out in the car for a bit.  Despite web site saying 9:00 a.m. start, the lifts and gondolas opened at 8:30 a.m.   Skiing at Jackson Hole is basically very long hard blue or black runs.  More on the black side.  While pretty much a groomer hill, it was quite the challenge.  The  Corbet's Couloir  was not open due to lack of cover.  Just not enough snow the past several weeks.  View of the entire Jackson valley was so hard to capture in a picture.  Warmed up a bit, but a cold a.m. with the haze clearing for a blue bird day. No lunch but resting break at lodge....

Telluride Day 2 - Travel to Grand Junction

Jeff woke at 4:15 mostly due to glogged nose, but also anxious about weather and drive.  The Hampton lobby made for a good hangout until 6 am breakfast bell. The trek to Telluride was wet, and the snow packed as expected. During bearly morning Jeff found the Telluride app, which like Epic or IKON will track you skiing.  While you can ski up to 7 days on the Epic Pass, the mountain is not a Vail Property, so for future make sure app is loaded and physical pass in hand.  The new Epic Phone based pass did not work.  Of course by the time we started skiing forgot to start the app. It snowed all day with heaviest coming at the end.  Drake made the call to ski down to the Village to have lunch and save our sandwiches for dinner.  We e joyed sitting at the outside bar and chatting with some guys from MI.  Wings and Fries with beer and fireball shots.
