Day 13 - Travel to Jackson Hole

David and Christa had a 3:00 a.m. wake up call for a 5:30 a.m. flight to start the trek back to Indianapolis.  Janie, Logan, Sarah and Parker all headed out at 7:40 for their 9:55 a.m. flight back to Kansas City.  Shoe line up!

Drake and Jeff did the close out of the VRBO with a room to room check and then headed out for fuel, ice and the trek to Jackson, WY.  Bright blue sky after a week of clouds and snow.

As web passed Logan, UT the KC crew was on the plane.  Rumor has it Janie left her black carry on in rental and had to trek back and barely made the check in time limit for luggage.

So much for being on time for flight.  Text from grandma said they had a crew change and deice process before departure.

Ran into snow not far into ID!

Sara picked up Breck from kennel to take home.  He had the dumb dumb zoomies.  Searching floor board for something to eat or lick.  A little later got a call from from Sara that when she arrived our front door was wide open.  Hmm.....nothing seemed to indicate a robbery as package by front door.  Probably been heating the outdoors, so hopefully no water damage....thank goodness unusually warm in KC all week.  Ugh!!!

Crossing a big valley with large snow flakes.

We followed the Snake River across the state line a couple of times until we arrived in Jackson, WY.

Made a stop at Jackson Maverick (brand) for gas and quick pit stop.  Jeff jumped into the passenger side and Drake started to drive off until we heard a clunk.  Can you guess?  Yes forgot to take the pump handle out and pulled it off the pump.  The check valve did its job and the attendant put it back on as it was a quick connect style.  Luck all around.  First time for both of us on that maneuver and no pictures.

Then we went to the Stillwest Brewery at the base of the local ski slope right on the boundary of the town.  Snow King Mountain is a small, but black run mountain.  Also, a tube hill all in one.

After lunch we headed to the mountain about 30 minutes northeast of the town.  We scoped out the parking lot options and decided to leave in the a.m. by 7:30.

The road to the Teton National Park from Jackson Hole is closed as all of Yellowstone for the winter.  We may trek up to see the Teton on our way to MT even though its a 30 minutes up and back on the main HWY.

On the way back we checked into the Homewood Suites and unloaded our gear.  Pretty much have the process down pat now for unloading and loading the gear.  Funny - text quote from Drake - "Officially missing my warm toilet seat and bidet....life comes crashing back to reality".  Our VRBO had a Bidet with heated seat.

After getting organized we headed out to explore the downtown.  Some items Drake could remember and others refreshed.  The main square and walked around to find stickers and the chocolate shop we stopped at last time here.  The infamous theft of Janie's last chocolate piece by Drake.  Found the famous Cowboy Saloon as well.

During our stroll we got the picture of Parker and Layla reunited.

Janie home after dropping everyone off and watching Parker while Sarah picked up Layla.  Breck was very excited.  Thank you Sara for getting him early so he could be home for the weekend.  He did get some payback for kennel time by wetting the bed during Janie's grocery store run.  Ooops.

After getting settled we walked downtown to scope out options and stretch the legs.  Stopped in to get stickers and shirts.  We successfully found the chocolate shop we visited last trip.  Plan to make some purchases before leaving.  Then stopped in the Wyoming Whiskey store and purchased some take home collection items.  Took our stash back to the Homewood and then back out to continue exploring.

As we cut across a city park the lady behind us said she rerouted he walk due to a Moose in town.  Sure enough a large Moose Cow laying in the snow.

We had a beer in the Cowboy Saloon and then found our dinner place.

Dinner we found on a side street at the Teton Tiger.  Asian food options from India and Thailand.

Drake had a Gin Drink that was awesome

Mescal Smoke Drink

Dumplings to start

Beef Noodles

Butter Curry

Special take on a Old Fashion

After returning we started back up watching the skiing video series before an early turn in for the night (9 p.m.).
