Trip to Taos

January 28th is here and with a 4:45 am wake up the trip begins.  Jeff headed out at 6 am to pick up Drake with Janie following.   Sarah strained her back yesterday, so grandma helping by taking Parker for the day and sleep over.  Upon arrival the last packing of Drake's gear and then on the road 6:55 am departure.
Starting mileage was 50,170

First pit stop for food and mother nature in Emporia.

Drake worked up to the Chiefs game start.  Between radio and Drakes laptop we were able to keep up with the game until the last few mins when we lost coverage.
The drive overall was a refreshing change from I70.  After crossing I25 the foothills took over and the drive became a windy mountain drive. Came across several deer in the road and safely got by.

Chiefs victory!!!!

Taos is a big desert valley with a great skyline and we had the sunset on top.  Check into Hampton (a little tired, but suffices).

Then a Walmart trip for lunch wrap fixings and a stop at 5 Star Burger.  A burger bar that looked like an old Taco Bell bldg.  Server was really nice and food hit the spot.  Jeff did spill an entire side sauce on his pulliver and pants.  Drake started a daily chip purchase and spill count.
Chips=0
Spills=1

We may add falls on the Mountain count.

Back to the Hampton to watch end of NFC championship game and organize for the next day.  Jeff washed out his clothes and fingers crossed Janies training works.

Drake broke out the back rollers and we each did some back therapy.

Bed reasonably early as we have a 35 min drive to the mountain base.  A little weird having to turn on the AC, but it was low 50s today in Taos.

  1. Hard to believe that we started this trip just about 2 weeks ago. It has been a super trip so far and having the family with us in week 2 an awesome treat.
